TEDx 2019

About TED

TED is a non-profit global community built around the tagline “ideas worth spreading.” Through a series of short, powerful talks spanning just 18 minutes, TED brings together leading changemakers, thinkers, and doers to share narratives across Technology, Entertainment, Design, and virtually every field imaginable. Held twice a year, these talks are recorded and made freely available to the world, making impactful ideas accessible to everyone.

About TEDx

TEDx talks are independently organised events that aim at developing a local narrative while maintaining the underlying vision of TED. While TED takes a global approach, TEDx is a space that celebrates local voices — it has been the force that has taken TED across the planet and seeded communities worldwide. Licensed from TED, TEDx offers a wholesome experience to its speakers and attendees, providing a global stage for local dialogues. These conversations are recorded and later made available for free on TEDx channels.

TEDxMACE 2019 — Edge of Chaos

TEDxMACE 2019 was held on February 8, 2019, at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, Kochi, Kerala. The theme for the event was Edge of Chaos — a concept exploring the sublimity of reality, celebrating a wonderful mix of stability and evanescence, where complexity thrives between order and disorder.

The event featured 14 speakers from diverse backgrounds, each bringing a unique perspective to the theme. Among the notable speakers were:

  • Guneeta Singh Bhalla — Physicist and founder of the 1947 Partition Archive
  • Krishna Teja Mylavarapu — IAS officer involved in Kerala flood relief efforts
  • Parvathy Gopakumar — Law student and disability rights advocate
  • Maria Rony — Professional table tennis player
  • George Vivian Paul — Stand-up comedian and founder of Kochin Komedians
  • Anjali Vinod — Food blogger and photographer based in Sydney
  • Oorali — Contemporary folk-reggae band focused on social themes

My Role

I was part of the organising team for TEDxMACE 2019, handling the giveaways and decoration for the event. It was a rewarding experience to contribute to bringing this platform to our college and help create an atmosphere worthy of the ideas shared on stage.
